Horseshoe motif
Since ancient times horseshoe has been believe to be a lucky charm and a symbol of protection from evil. The roots of this belief go back to a middle ages legend about a blacksmith named Dunstan who attached horseshoes to a horse, but that horse was actually the devil in disguise. The nails caused the devil excruciating pain and he begged Dunstan to remove them.
